Must-Have:
Will need to pass the Relias EKG exam.
Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
Experience with Med/Surg skills such as blood product administration, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy.
Knowledge of starting IVs, managing insulin and PCA, and handling spinal cord injuries.
Familiarity with traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, and chest tubes.
Ability to provide care using CPAP/BiPAP and high flow nasal cannula.
Skills in wound care and management, and knowledge of isolation precautions.
Description:
The Registered Nurse will work in a medical-surgical unit specializing in trauma care.
The nurse will care for patients that come from emergency departments, operating rooms, or intensive care units.
Patient demographics will primarily involve geriatric trauma cases, including victims of abuse and violence, motor vehicle accidents, and falls.
Other patient conditions may include acute care surgery cases such as appendicitis, gallbladder issues, hernia repairs, and burns.
The Registered Nurse will have a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4-6.
Every other weekend requirement is expected.
This position requires the nurse to float within the service line.
The environment features interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
In this role, the nurse must manage various special equipment and respond effectively to patient needs.
