The position requires the ability to assist with the care of neonates. The nurse will be responsible for conducting newborn assessments. Skills required include starting and maintaining IVs. The nurse will administer vaccines and manage phototherapy. Strong communication skills are necessary for parent education. Charge nurse and preceptor experience are essential for this role. Candidates should expect to float to postpartum for baby care assignments. The nurse will also address infant identification and isolation precautions. Every other weekend shift duty is required. This position offers an opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary team. Candidates must have experience managing low birth weight infants.
