Opportunity:

RN - Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse

Job Details:

• Day and night 12-hour shifts available, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to work 2-3 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period
• Orientation week shift lengths may vary and may include 8-hour shifts
• Minimum of 2 years of total NICU Level III/IV experience required, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU
• Level III and Level IV experience may be combined to reach the 2-year total, but a minimum of 1 year must be in a Level IV NICU
• Travel experience required; locals within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Experience required with post-operative patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, and various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation
• Float required to all pediatric units for patients less than 12 months of age, including PICU; travelers float first
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA only)
• Wisconsin RN license or compact license required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Special equipment includes ventilators for invasive and noninvasive ventilation including NAVA (Draeger, Servo, and Oscillator), aEEG, and Whole Body Cooling (Arctic Sun)
• A telemetry exam with strict pass/fail criteria is required prior to start; traveler has two attempts to pass with a score of 80% or higher
• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:3
• Provide care for critically ill newborns and infants across the continuum of care, from admission through discharge
• Care for high-acuity neonates with diagnoses including surgical needs, brain injury, stroke, seizures, prematurity, congenital heart disease, cardiac catheterization, and metabolic or genetic disorders

This comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center features nationally recognized pediatric specialists across a wide range of fields and is a Magnet-designated facility. The facility is home to a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and a 26-bed Level IV NICU that cares for the tiniest and most critically ill patients throughout the region and beyond. Interdisciplinary support services include IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretaries, all working together to provide a patient- and family-centered care environment.
