Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending Virginia state license accepted with required timing before start
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Level III NICU nursing experience required
  • Full-time Level III NICU experience required; Level IV NICU experience is highly preferred
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required or must be in progress
  • Epic electronic medical record experience required
  • Strong clinical experience with high-frequency ventilation, conventional ventilators, iNO, CPAP/BiPAP, NIPPV/NIMV, tracheostomy care, IV drips, and hemodynamic support
  • Ability to care for neonates and infants with complex medical, surgical, cardiac, neurologic, and metabolic needs
  • BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert nursing care to neonates and infants in a busy Level III NICU
  • Manage complex respiratory support, including ventilator care and noninvasive ventilation modes
  • Support admissions, post-operative care, whole body cooling, line care, wound and drain care, and IV fluid management
  • Assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar punctures, PICC placement, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
  • Interpret ABGs, calculate medications accurately, and maintain safe neonatal dosing practices
  • Care for a diverse patient population including premature infants, cardiac patients, and babies with neurologic, metabolic, and surgical conditions
  • Float within scope to newborn care, postpartum, labor and delivery, pediatric, and PICU areas as needed
  • Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver compassionate, high-quality neonatal care
