Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed CV Neuro ICU at a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
Manage and titrate vasoactive drips including Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, Phenylephrine, Dopamine, and Vasopressin
Independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips using Philips telemetry equipment (no monitor techs on unit)
Care for patients with complex neurological and critical care diagnoses including stroke, ICH, SAH, ARDS, septic shock, and acute respiratory failure
Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment including mechanical ventilators, HFNC, BiPAP, and CPAP
Fulfill holiday coverage requirements, including one major and one minor holiday per year
Required Qualifications
Active RN license valid in Virginia
BLS certification required
ACLS certification required
Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
Must pass ECG/rhythm strip competency exam on day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a Neuro ICU or cardiovascular ICU setting
Familiarity with titratable vasoactive and vasopressor drip management
Experience with mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support modalities
Comfort working in a high-acuity environment with complex neurological and multi-system diagnoses
