Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge and skills relevant to the management of neuroscience-related patients, including stroke and seizure management.

  • ICP Monitoring
  • Ventilator Management
  • Telemetry
  • ACLS
  • BCLS
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification

Job Details

  • Staffing Ratios: 2:1; occasionally 3:1
  • Length of Commitment: 13 weeks or longer
  • Shift: 12-hour nights
  • Float Requirement: Yes, to other ICUs and intermediate units
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Patient Care

The unit specializes in a 26-bed Neuro and Surgical ICU (NSICU) dedicated to delivering comprehensive care for various neurological conditions. Candidates should have significant experience in:

  • Stroke Management
  • ICP Management
  • Seizure Management
  • Critical Care Patient Management (including titrating drips and using invasive equipment)

Special Procedures and Equipment

  • EVD Management
  • Ventilator Management
  • Zoll Temperature Management/Artic Sun
  • Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCAs)

Unit Systems

  • Medication: Pyxis
  • Documentation: EPIC
  • Communication: SBAR

Orientation and Uniform

  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Not provided. Navy Blue or White or a combination of both.

Additional Information

Candidates must successfully pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty area.
