```htmlJob Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit – North Carolina

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement. Per unit needs scheduling (block scheduling not available). Float requirement to other ICU and intermediate care units as needed.

Highlights:

  • 26-bed Neuroscience and Surgical Intensive Care Unit within a comprehensive stroke center
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 2:1, occasionally 3:1 or 1:1 based on acuity
  • Advanced critical care experience with stroke management, ICP monitoring, seizure management, and complex drip titration
  • Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management
  • 24-hour orientation period with robust interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
  • Contract length of 13 weeks or longer available through February 27

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience mandatory (first-time travelers not accepted)
  • Active North Carolina or Compact State RN license
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start date
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ventilator management, ICP monitoring, telemetry, arterial line management, EVD management, central line care, blood product administration, and vasoactive/cardiac drip titration
  • Experience with hypothermia protocols (Arctic Sun/Zoll temperature management), lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgery patient management
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
