The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4. Nurses will work 3 night shifts per week, with the possibility of either 36 or 48 hours. Every other weekend is required. Staff must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays. Requests for time off during Christmas will not be approved. A maximum of 40 hours of time off may be granted. Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications are required. Adherence to floating policies must be maintained. Candidates may submit with a pending license, which must be obtained before the designated start date. Experience with the Epic charting system is mandatory. This unit provides interdisciplinary support from various healthcare professionals. Common patient diagnoses include strokes, general neurology conditions, brain and spine surgeries, and other acuity-related issues. Daily patient discharges and admissions may range from 8 to 10. Staff will engage in diverse procedures, including telemetry and advanced care for spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries. Teamwork, compassion, and excellence are core values in this unit. Remote telemetry will be utilized for select patients.
