Registered Nurse – NICU-Based Float Pool

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 8:00 AM) | Every other weekend required | Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Level III NICU setting with floating responsibilities to PICU, Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery (NBN); floating is required without exception
- Manage IV therapy including A-line management, Central Line/Implanted Line Care, UAC/UVC, IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
- Perform cardiac and respiratory monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
- Support GI and neurological care including bottle, breast, and gavage feedings; placement and management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes; and care for patients with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
- Adhere to unit scheduling requirements including weekend rotations and holiday coverage per unit needs
Required Qualifications
- Active New Jersey RN license or Compact license required at time of submission
- Required certifications: BLS, NRP, and PALS
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience; documented NICU Level III and PICU experience must be reflected in employment history
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
- Must be available to float to PICU, Pediatrics, and Newborn Nursery as assigned based on skill set
- Local candidates are welcome and accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for premature and critically ill neonates in a high-volume regional perinatal center environment
- Familiarity with comprehensive pediatric critical care, including working alongside pediatric subspecialists and full-time pediatric critical care physicians
- Prior experience in a teaching hospital or academic medical center setting
