Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, IV certification Must-Have: - IV start skills and labor & delivery experience - EPIC experience Description: Schedule may float to units with similar acuity. Patient ratios on days will be 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients). Patient ratios on nights will be 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients). Patient ratios on weekends will be 3-4 dyads (6-8 patients). Candidates must have experience with the administration of blood & blood products, antihypertensives, bladder assessments, and Foley catheter insertion. Candidates are expected to provide breastfeeding instructions, care for cesarean sections, cord care, and couplet care. Discharge teaching to parents is required. Candidates will provide care for episiotomy, incision care, fundus, lochia, and perineum. Knowledge in administering heparin, IV antibiotics, and observing/detecting dysrhythmias is essential. Candidates must possess skills for administering large for gestational age assessments and care for low birth weight infants. Magnesium sulfate therapy and neonatal abstinence syndrome care are also necessary skills. Newborn assessments and managing newborn hypoglycemia will be included in the responsibilities. Pain assessment and management, phototherapy, and administration of Pitocin (oxytocin) are required. Candidates will also teach circumcision care and ensure thermoregulation for infants. Vaccination administration knowledge is essential. The role includes caring for postpartum patients following vaginal and cesarean deliveries. Postpartum readmissions require skills in identifying wound infections and managing preeclampsia. This position involves working in a 40-bed inpatient postpartum unit that focuses on family-centered care for women and infants. Telemetry interpretation is required, and candidates must pass an EKG exam prior to starting. This is a traveling role that requires compliance with credentialing and fingerprinting processes. Candidates must provide two professional references, including one from a manager or supervisor. All candidates must hold a valid nursing license at the time of submission. Education must be from an accredited program.
