  • Workweek Flexibility:36 or 48 Hours Per Week
  • Shift Stability: Dedicated Night Shift (does not rotate like day positions).
  • Weekend Expectations: Every other weekend (EOW) required.
  • On-Call Requirement: No call.
  • Parking Logistics:Free on-site parking provided for staff.
  • Floating Policy: Floating required (primarily to Medical/Surgical floors with ratio up to 1:4 or 1:5). Telemetry competency mandatory.

Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

  • Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Massachusetts (MA) State RN License held at time of submission.
  • Core Certifications Required: Active AHA BLS and AHA ACLS.
  • Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of continuous adult MICU / ICU experience (preferably at a single facility).
  • Mandatory Clinical Skill: Advanced telemetry strip reading and rhythm interpretation competency is strictly required.
  • Float Mandate: Candidate must agree to float to Med/Surg units (caring for up to 4–5 patients) as staffing demands require.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Hospital in Salem, MA is seeking an experienced, highly autonomous Medical Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (MICU RN) for a 36- or 48-hour night-shift contract in S-Dav6 - ICU (Cost Center: SH1331). Operating within a Level III Trauma Center and 400+ bed complex community facility, the RN will deliver high-acuity critical care to complex adult medical-surgical patients supported by 24/7 in-house attending physicians and residents.

  • High-Acuity Critical Care Management: Care for complex adult populations presenting with acute respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, severe sepsis, DKA, GI bleeding, renal failure, substance overdose, and acute psychiatric crises.
  • Invasive Hemodynamic & Airway Monitoring: Manage continuous cardiac monitoring, arterial lines, central lines, mechanical ventilation, and vasoactive drip titrations.
  • Float Unit Coverage: Step into Med/Surg unit assignments during surge conditions, maintaining primary nursing responsibility for up to 4–5 patients with telemetry monitoring.
  • EPIC Documentation: Execute complete, real-time clinical charting and order verification using EPIC.

  • Provider Coverage: 24/7 in-house attendings and residents present on-unit.
  • RN-to-Patient Ratio:

    • Med/Surg Float: 1:4 or 1:5.
