Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Three weekends per six-week schedule | Every other holiday
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Observation Medical-Surgical unit, managing a patient population that includes chest pain, abdominal pain, CVA/TIA, generalized weakness, and geri-psych placement cases
- Administer and monitor stable drips including heparin, Lasix, and Protonix; perform PIV insertion with strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Float within skillset as first to float, including potential cross-campus float to a nearby Indiana campus and a Kentucky campus with a minimum 2-hour notice provided for cross-campus floats
- Document accurately using EPIC (checkoff class required upon start)
- Maintain a patient ratio of 1:5–7 on night shifts with LPN and CNA support
- May be required to precept students and new hires at this teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Current active Registered Nurse Compact License required
- AHA BLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience
- At least one prior travel assignment required
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Recent EPIC charting experience required
- Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with observation-level patient care including CVA/TIA and geri-psych populations
- Demonstrated ability to manage change, work resiliently, and collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work well in a socially engaged, team-oriented unit
