Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical in Newburgh, IN

Perform and manage clinical skills including PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), stable drip administration (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), epidural management, PEG/NG tube care, ostomy care, post-Whipple recovery (24–28 hour postop), and neutropenic precautions. Float as needed within the same campus (mid-shift) or to a partner campus with a minimum of 2 hours notice; cross-campus mid-shift float is possible but uncommon.

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite | Three weekends per six-week schedule; every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to a complex Medical-Surgical and oncology patient population, including GI, GU, and general surgical patients
• Perform and manage clinical skills including PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), stable drip administration (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), epidural management, PEG/NG tube care, ostomy care, post-Whipple recovery (24–28 hour postop), and neutropenic precautions
• Demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking skills across a 32-bed unit at a patient ratio of up to 1:5 on day shift
• Float as needed within the same campus (mid-shift) or to a partner campus with a minimum of 2 hours notice; cross-campus mid-shift float is possible but uncommon
• Document accurately using EPIC (checkoff class required upon start)
• May be required to precept students and new hires at this teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Active, current Compact RN License required
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent EPIC charting experience required
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with oncology patient populations, including neutropenic precautions and post-surgical oncology care
• Familiarity with complex surgical procedures such as post-Whipple recovery and epidural management
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, work in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively with a team
