Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Overtime may be available upon request
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Observation Medical-Surgical unit serving patients presenting with chest pain, abdominal pain, flank pain, CVA/TIA, generalized weakness, and geri-psych placement needs
- Administer and monitor stable drips including heparin, Lasix, and Protonix; perform peripheral IV insertion
- Conduct thorough patient assessments with strong critical thinking skills across a 1:5–7 nurse-to-patient ratio on night shift
- Float within skillset to a sister campus location (approximately 8 miles away) or a Kentucky campus (approximately 11 miles away) with a minimum 2-hour notice for cross-campus floats; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
- Document accurately using EPIC electronic health records (checkoff class required upon start)
- Fulfill weekend and holiday commitments: three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Current, active Compact RN License
- AHA BLS Certification (must be current and attached at time of submittal)
- NIHSS Certification (must be current and attached at time of submittal)
- Minimum two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience
- At least one prior travel nursing assignment
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Recent EPIC charting experience required
- Must reside at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with observation-level patient populations including CVA/TIA and geri-psych patients
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong adaptability and resilience
- Collaborative, team-oriented work style with comfort working alongside LPN and CNA support staff
