Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 45-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a general M/S population including post-surgical patients (gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs), as well as patients with GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory conditions, and COVID. Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG/NG tubes, ostomy care, remote telemetry, and blood product administration.

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 45-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a general M/S population including post-surgical patients (gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs), as well as patients with GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory conditions, and COVID.
• Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG/NG tubes, ostomy care, remote telemetry, and blood product administration.
• Conduct NIHSS assessments and dysphagia screenings; apply strong assessment and critical thinking skills throughout each shift.
• Float as first to float within skillset to same-campus units mid-shift and, when needed, to nearby campuses with a minimum 2-hour notice for cross-campus floats.
• Fulfill weekend and holiday requirements: every third weekend and every other holiday.
• May be required to precept nursing students and new hires at this teaching facility.

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Compact RN License required.
• AHA BLS Certification required.
• NIHSS Certification required.
• Minimum two (2) years of recent, strong Medical-Surgical experience.
• At least one (1) prior travel assignment required.
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start).
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with drip management including heparin and cardizem infusions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage change, work resiliently in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate effectively with a team.
• Comfort with cross-campus float assignments and adaptability to varying patient ratios.
