Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 45-bed Medical-Surgical unit managing a general M/S population including post-surgical patients (gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs), as well as patients with GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory conditions, and COVID. Perform PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG/NG tube care, ostomy care, remote telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, and NIHSS/dysphagia screening .

Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 45-bed Medical-Surgical unit managing a general M/S population including post-surgical patients (gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements, ORIFs), as well as patients with GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, respiratory conditions, and COVID
• Perform PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, drip management (heparin, cardizem), PEG/NG tube care, ostomy care, remote telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, and NIHSS/dysphagia screening
• Maintain strong assessment and critical thinking skills; adapt effectively to change in a fast-paced environment
• Float within skillset as first to float, including potential cross-campus float to nearby Indiana campuses with a minimum 2-hour notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• Fulfill weekend and holiday requirements: every third weekend and every other holiday
• May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching environment

Required Qualifications

• Current, active Compact RN License
• AHA BLS Certification required
• NIHSS Certification required
• Minimum of two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with drip management, remote telemetry, and complex post-surgical patient populations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with an experienced unit staff
• Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in high-acuity or high-census environments
