Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical in Evansville, IN

Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a post-surgical population including vascular, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, cardiac cath, and open abdominal cases, as well as patients with dementia, AMS, CIWA/detox, and fall risk needs. Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, wound care (packing, wound vacs, dressing changes), and telemetry interpretation.

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM | Expected 36 hours/week (48 hours/week available upon request; overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts) | Three weekends per six-week schedule; every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 41-bed Medical-Surgical unit serving a post-surgical population including vascular, bariatric, ENT, podiatry, cardiac cath, and open abdominal cases, as well as patients with dementia, AMS, CIWA/detox, and fall risk needs
• Perform and manage PIV insertion, chest tube and indwelling drain management, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, wound care (packing, wound vacs, dressing changes), and telemetry interpretation
• Administer and monitor stable drips including heparin, Lasix, and Protonix; provide pre- and post-heart cath care utilizing femoral and TR band techniques
• Float as first to float within skillset to a nearby campus location with a minimum of 2 hours notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EMR, including completion of a required Epic checkoff class upon onboarding

Required Qualifications

• Current active Compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum of two years of strong Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with complex post-surgical populations including Whipple procedures, vascular surgery, and thyroid surgeries
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Demonstrated ability to manage change effectively and work collaboratively within a team-oriented unit culture
• Comfort with telemetry interpretation and management of patients requiring q2-hour turns and wound vac therapy
