Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Orthopedics (4 West)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13 Weeks) | Nights | 3x12, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Every other weekend required | Expected 36 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Med Surg/Orthopedic unit with a 6:1 patient ratio, primarily serving surgical and post-operative patients
- Conduct bedside shift report at the start of each shift
- Utilize Epic EMR for accurate and timely documentation of patient care
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing demands
- Apply strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment to ensure safe, quality patient outcomes
- Maintain BLS and NIHSS (AHA) certifications throughout the assignment
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Alabama or compact state eligibility
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Demonstrated time management, strong work ethic, and reliable attendance
- Artificial nails of any kind (gel, dipped, wrapped, acrylic, or extensions) are not permitted per facility dress code
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in Med/Surg, orthopedics, or post-operative care
- Comfort working in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical unit
- Quick critical thinking and confident clinical decision-making
- Familiarity with Epic EMR
