Job Summary

Join a dedicated team as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse in Hilo, Hawaii. This role is based within a 77-bed Medical Unit, providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population.

The unit maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 during day and evening shifts, and 1:8 during night shifts, fostering a supportive environment for patient care. You will be an integral part of a collaborative healthcare team, delivering high-quality nursing interventions and ensuring positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, assessments, and interventions for general medical patients on the Medical Surgical Unit.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, utilizing systems such as Pyxis.
  • Manage and monitor patients with various conditions, including those requiring wound vacs and chest tubes.
  • Accurately document patient information, care plans, and progress using Meditech EMR.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to float to other units, including the Laulima Unit and Cardiovascular Unit, as operational needs require.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care Medical Surgical setting.
  • Proof of current flu vaccination or an approved medical/religious exemption will be required prior to the contract start date.
