Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Medical Surgical – Kansas
Start Date: October 19, 2026 (additional orientation dates available bi-weekly)
Location: Topeka, Kansas
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed per week, every other weekend rotation, holiday rotation required (2 federal holidays per year, plus spring and winter non-essential holidays; may request 1 holiday off)
Highlights:
- 32-bed post-surgical unit specializing in colorectal surgery, major abdominal procedures (colectomy, bowel resection, ostomy, hernia repair), urological procedures, orthopedic surgery, plastic surgery, and specialty wound care
- Staffing ratio of 1:6 providing manageable patient loads
- Epic charting system with test-out option available
- Contract length of 26-51 weeks preferred; longer contracts receive priority consideration
- Float to other post-surgical and med-surg inpatient floors as needed
- Work within a Magnet-designated facility recognized for nursing excellence and committed to High Reliability Organization culture
Requirements:
- Active Kansas or Multistate RN license (no exceptions for background issues)
- AHA BLS certification required at time of submission
- ADN or BSN degree
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical experience required; progressive care or step-down experience is a plus
- Immunity documentation for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella (titer or vaccination series), TDaP vaccine, TB documentation, and Influenza vaccine or exemption during flu season
- Previous travel experience required (not suitable for first-time travelers)
