Job Title: Registered Nurse Centralized Registry Float Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7pm - 7am Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: IN license (or compact as of 7/1/20) required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Minimum of 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience. Description: Candidates must have at least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital with over 450 beds. General Medical and surgical units see a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. The role involves managing GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases. Candidates will also be responsible for managing infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, and UTIs. There will be care required for patients with neurological issues, including stroke and dementia. Additionally, the position involves caring for patients with mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. Patients may undergo various procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General job duties include assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, and utilization of electronic health records. Skills required include IV therapy management, wound care, and management of medical devices. Equipment utilized includes electronic health records, medication dispensing systems, and telemetry monitoring systems. The position requires candidates to float to other medical units as needed, with patient ratios of 1:5-6. Floating may include shifts in different departments as necessary. Dress code includes Caribbean Blue scrubs. Candidates will participate in a comprehensive orientation including general hospital and nursing-specific training. Cancellation policy allows for call-offs up to 24 hours during assignments.
