Ability to titrate drips, specifically heparin and insulin. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit. The unit consists of 18 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6. Common patient diagnoses include hysterectomy, mastectomy, postpartum cases, and general medical/surgical patients. There is one Charge Nurse on each shift. The Charge Nurse may take an assignment. Patient Care Technicians are available, with a ratio of 1 PCT for 12 patients and 2 PCTs for more than 12 patients. Respiratory equipment available includes CPAP. Patients may have heart monitors, but nurses are not required to read the strips. Shifts are 12 hours, starting from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. Nursing staff will be required to work four weekend shifts per schedule period. There is a holiday requirement, and staff members will rotate for core staff obligations. Floating to other general medical units is required. Scrubs of any color are permitted. Orientation will consist of one shift, with additional shifts to be evaluated as needed.
