Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical unit at MVHS-Wynn, 6th Floor, located in Utica, New York. This role involves providing comprehensive care to adult patients with a diverse range of medical and post-surgical conditions.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, managing patients recovering from various procedures and medical diagnoses, including but not limited to abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery for morbid obesity. This position requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients on a Medical-Surgical unit.
  • Manage a diverse patient population, including those recovering from post-surgical procedures for conditions such as abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and morbid obesity (bariatric surgery).
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and monitor patient progress in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Float to other units as required by facility needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an acute care Medical-Surgical setting.
  • Prior travel nursing experience is required.

  • Clinical Expertise: Proficient in Medical-Surgical nursing practices, including post-surgical care, wound management, pain assessment, and medication administration.

  • EMR Systems: Demonstrated proficiency with EPIC.
