Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for a contract assignment on our Medical-Surgical unit at Calais Community Hospital in Calais, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive, individualized patient care to a diverse population, ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in directing and coordinating the patient care team, collaborating closely with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and their families to develop and implement effective care plans. This position requires a commitment to professional nursing practice, utilizing the full nursing process to ensure high-quality patient outcomes in a supportive hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate members of the patient care team, ensuring the provision of individualized, quality patient care consistent with hospital and state standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other patient care team members, patients, and their families to develop comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Apply the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) to deliver age-appropriate care for all assigned patients on the unit.
  • Promote a collaborative and professional environment, fostering teamwork with medical staff and personnel throughout the hospital.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality, patient rights, advance directives, and professional conduct.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire.
