Must-Have:
Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience.
Candidate must have at least 1 year of Medical Surgical experience at a large hospital with over 450 beds.
Description:
The nursing unit cares for a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses.
Common conditions include chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease.
The unit manages GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases.
Infections treated include pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, urinary tract infections, and c-diff.
Neurological issues, including stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries, are also managed.
Patients with mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, and substance abuse are cared for as well.
Common procedures involve colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries.
General job duties include assessments, care planning, and interprofessional communication.
Utilization of electronic health records and various medical equipment is required.
Skills include IV therapy management, wound care, and monitoring vital signs and patient fluids.
The nurse will float to other medical units as needed.
Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6.
Three weekend shifts are expected within every four-week schedule.
Full participation in ongoing training and orientation is required.
Employees must adhere to the established dress code of Caribbean Blue scrubs.
The charting system utilized is Epic.
