Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ Years of Recent Medical Surgical Experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Strong critical-thinking skills - Ability to adapt to available resources - Well-rounded clinical approach Description: Clinicians should be prepared to use strong critical-thinking skills. They must adapt to the available resources. A well-rounded clinical approach is required across a variety of responsibilities. A telemetry test will be completed onsite during orientation, with two attempts to pass. Failure to pass after the second attempt will result in contract cancellation. Med Surg experience is essential. The patient ratio is 1:4-5. Common diagnoses include Congestive Heart Failure, post-heart catheterization, post-vascular procedures, respiratory failure, and cardiac dysrhythmias. Expected procedures include post-heart catheter care and frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks. Required skills encompass cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV starting and maintenance, and medications administration including emergency medications. Additionally, the role includes managing chest tubes and providing procedural sedation administration and monitoring. Infection prevention and isolation precautions skills are necessary. Phlebotomy skills are also required. Interdisciplinary communication is supported, with an emphasis on interpretation services. The unit accommodates a variety of patient age groups and maintains a daily census. Special procedures include monitoring post-heart catheterizations and post-vascular procedures. Travelers are expected to demonstrate competency in the skills outlined.
