Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 3x12 night shifts, 1900-0700; every other weekend required (12 weekend night shifts per contract on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday); float required as needed to inpatient surgery floors, holding areas, or medical floors

Highlights:

  • 12-bed unit caring for adult surgical patients with short stays (typically less than 24 hours)
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 across all shifts
  • Most patients admitted from PACU; also care for pre-op patients and inpatient surgical admissions as needed
  • Diverse case mix including colorectal, endoscopic, general, gynecologic, maxillofacial, neurologic, orthopedic, plastic, urologic, and vascular surgery patients
  • EPIC charting system (experience preferred)
  • 24 hours of orientation provided; 8-10 hours of pre-start online modules required

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
  • Short stay/23-hour stay unit experience required
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • EPIC experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Additional Information:

  • Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters
  • Must be available to work major holidays (2 of 3 required per contract)
  • Up to 7 days of time off may be approved (no holidays; no time off during first week)
  • Flexibility to float to other units as needed is required
