There are 2-3 techs available per shift. A clinical coordinator is present, with days varying. A charge nurse, manager, and director are also available. The unit utilizes equipment such as wound vacs, heparin gtts, suction devices, IV pumps, glucometers, bladder scanners, feeding pumps, and telemetry. Documentation is done through Editech. Scheduling does not guarantee block scheduling. Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required. Floating policy includes floating between the North and West units. Candidates are expected to have a positive attitude and meet the needs of patients and families. Service recovery must be performed as necessary, with any problems escalated through the chain of command. Dress code consists of navy scrubs; fleece or sweatshirts are not permitted. The unit has a family environment with visible leadership. Self-scheduling is available, promoting a learning atmosphere. Recognition includes awards such as the Daisy Award and Bee Award, along with colleague-to-colleague recognition.
