PCU and/or critical care experience. Advanced skills including IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, and Foley management. Description: The position involves delivering highly individualized care to medical, cardiac, and surgical patients requiring intermediate care. Conditions managed include sepsis, stroke, myocardial infarction, angina, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, tachycardia, heart blocks, and post-operative care among others. Responsibilities include performing head-to-toe assessments every six hours and charting each assessment fully. Common medications administered on the unit include Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, and others. The unit has 29 beds with patient ratios of 4:1. Staffing includes a day shift secretary and 2-3 patient care technicians, with similar support for night shifts based on census. Self-scheduling is encouraged, allowing balance in staffing and flexibility for requests off prior to schedule closure. Floating policies are in place, with travel RNs floating first, followed by other staff based on the oldest float date.
