Teamwork is always supported and appreciated on the floor. We have excellent communication and relationships with our providers on the unit. Surgical residents are available to cover most of our surgeons 24 hours a day. We request that your clinical team interview candidates before presenting them for consideration. The unit capacity is 32 beds. The patient population includes individuals with conditions such as bowel obstruction, wound infection, gastrointestinal cancers, and morbid obesity. The unit provides post-operative surgical care to patients who are hemodynamically stable and do not require mechanical ventilation. The ages of patients served range from young adults through late adults (18 - 60+). The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Our core staffing plan includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Nurse Interns. Each RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on their team. NIH Certification is also required.
