Must-Have:
Floating between units/facilities may be required.
Travelers may be asked to float to different units or facilities within a 35-mile radius of their original assignment.
Floating will be based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity.
Travelers will always be notified before their scheduled shift if a float assignment is required.
Description:
We are seeking nurses to join our post-surgical care unit.
Teamwork is consistently supported and appreciated on the floor from staff.
We maintain strong communication and relationships with our providers, including surgical residents who assist in covering most of our surgeons around the clock.
Your clinical team will interview candidates before any presentations to our posting.
Unit capacity is 32 beds.
Common diagnoses include Bowel Obstruction, Wound Infection, Gastrointestinal Cancers, and Morbid Obesity.
We provide post-operative surgical care to general surgery patients.
The unit also cares for overflow medical and surgical patients from throughout the facility.
Patients must be hemodynamically stable and not require mechanical ventilation.
Ages of patients served range from young adult to late adult (18 - 60+).
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:6.
The core staffing plan is variable and includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), and Nurse Interns (NIs).
An RN assumes full responsibility for the patients on each team.
Candidates are expected to have BLS and NIH Certification.
