Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Expected 36 hours/week (48-hour contracts available upon request; overtime may apply after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to a complex Medical/Surgical/Telemetry patient population including post cardiac catheterization with interventions, CVA/TIA, ICD, complex abdominal surgeries, oncology, and craniotomy patients (POD 2)
- Perform and document NIHSS assessments and dysphagia screenings with strong neuro assessment skills
- Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; travelers are expected to pass telemetry competency testing
- Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, cardiac, and heparin infusions; perform heart cath recovery (femoral and TR bands)
- Float within skillset as first to float, including potential cross-campus float assignments with a minimum 2-hour notice provided for cross-campus floats
- May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching environment; adhere to navy blue scrub dress code with no competing health system or agency logos
Required Qualifications
- Active, current Compact RN License
- AHA BLS Certification (must be attached upon submittal)
- NIHSS Certification (must be attached upon submittal)
- Minimum two years of strong Telemetry/Med-Surg experience, at least one prior travel assignment, and Trauma Level II experience
- Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required)
- Candidates must reside at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with NG/PEG tubes and PIV insertion
- Familiarity with Tikosyn dosing and chest tube management
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change, strong work ethic, and collaborative interpersonal skills
