Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care across a variety of medical surgical patient types in a 15-bed unit with a 4–5:1 patient ratio
- Administer and monitor heparin drips and other medications per protocol
- Utilize remote telemetry monitoring in coordination with telemetry technicians
- Serve in charge or preceptor capacity as needed to support unit leadership and staff development
- Float across multiple campuses as required to meet staffing needs
- Contribute to a collaborative, growth-oriented unit culture by supporting teammates and bringing a positive, adaptable approach
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission
- AHA or ARC BLS certification required
- Minimum 24 months of experience in Med Surg or Medical Surgical Telemetry
- Must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 18 months — first-time travelers are not accepted
- Proficiency caring for a variety of medical surgical patient types
- Experience with heparin administration and management
- Recent charge or preceptor experience required
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
- Med Surg or Medical Surgical Telemetry-specific skills checklist required at time of submission
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (based on driver's license) to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring background highly preferred
- 24 months of current, continuous Med Surg or Med Surg Telemetry experience reflected on work history and resume
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
