Description:
RNs are required to have a mandatory competency with phlebotomy as well as placing IVs.
This is a required skill for any RN within this specialty.
Night shift ratios are expected to be 6-7 patients to 1 nurse, with the possibility of stretching to 8-10 patients if staff calls in.
Patient Care Technicians are available on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
First-time travelers are accepted.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.
Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care and management, and blood product administration is necessary.
Nurses must manage cardiac drips, PCA, orthopaedic trauma, total joint replacements, and tracheostomy care.
Wound care and wound vac management is also required.
Familiarity with Epic charting is preferred.
The patient demographic includes adults and geriatrics.
Daily census and specific patient data may vary.
The facility staff includes interdisciplinary teams such as IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services for comprehensive patient care.
