Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse / Med-Surg Telemetry – North Carolina

Start Date: October 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Must work 12-16 weekend shifts per contract. Patient ratio 1:5-6. Contract length: 13-20 weeks available.

  • Med-Surg unit with telemetry monitoring, caring for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including diabetes, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, GI bleeds, hip fractures, and other typical medical-surgical conditions
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and more
  • EPIC charting system with Pyxis medication management
  • 24-hour orientation period with full hospital orientation during first week
  • 41-bed unit with dedicated isolation area and multi-level care capabilities
  • First-time travelers accepted; local candidates welcome
Requirements:
  • Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification required
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Med-Surg and Telemetry skills including remote monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, wound care/wound vac, PCA pumps, chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and isolation precautions
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Experience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, PICC line management, IV starts, phlebotomy, and non-invasive airway management required
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Willingness to float to other units as needed
  • Ability to serve on Storm/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • EPIC charting experience strongly preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience a plus
  • Experience with port access, CVA patients, surgical drains, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management beneficial
