MS/Telemetry RN – Contract Opportunity

Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurses (RNs) for a long-term contract opportunity on a 30-bed acuity-adaptable MS/Telemetry unit.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience caring for Medical/Surgical and telemetry patients, recent Epic experience, and excellent clinical assessment and prioritization skills. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and floating as needed.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical/Surgical and telemetry patients.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications, treatments, and other nursing interventions.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
• Manage patients with varying levels of acuity and care needs.
• Perform phlebotomy/blood draws as required.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Prioritize patient care based on acuity and clinical needs.
• Float to other units as required and within scope of practice.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and patient-centered care environment.
• Participate in admissions, transfers, and discharge processes.

Charge Nurse Responsibilities

Charge experience is highly preferred but not required. Candidates without prior charge experience must be willing to receive training.

Charge Nurse responsibilities may include:

• Assigning patient assignments based on acuity and care needs.
• Coordinating admissions.
• Performing Pyxis and crash-cart checks.
• Communicating with the nursing supervisor.
• Assigning breaks and meal coverage.
• Coordinating patient care and workflow.
• Preparing assignments based on anticipated needs for the following shift.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical and Telemetry experience.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Recent Epic experience within the last 12 months; Epic experience must be clearly listed on the resume.
• Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program through ACEN or CCNE.
• Strong telemetry and clinical assessment skills.
• Ability and willingness to float.
• Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.

Unit Details

• 30-bed MS/Telemetry acuity-adaptable unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios generally range from 1:5–6, depending on patient acuity.
• Patient assignments vary based on level of care and clinical needs.
• Fast-paced environment requiring strong time-management and teamwork skills.
• Charge Nurse experience is preferred, with training available for qualified candidates.

Assignment Requirements

• Interview required.
• Candidates must provide available interview dates and times at submission.
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application.
• Maximum 7 days of RTO permitted.
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment.
• Block scheduling may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates requesting block scheduling should indicate this at submission.
• Solid black scrubs required.
• Floating is required.

Selected candidates may be required to complete facility-specific:

• Nursing competency and skills assessments
• EKG/Telemetry assessment
• Pharmacology assessment
• License and certification verification
• Education verification
• Drug screening and background checks
• Health screening and immunization requirements
• Facility onboarding and compliance documentation
