Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

- Experience Baseline: Minimum 2+ years of recent Acute Care Telemetry / Med-Surg RN experience specializing in high-acuity stroke populations.
- Clinical Skills Mandate: Must demonstrate proven competency in reading and interpreting basic telemetry cardiac rhythms prior to facility arrival.
- Mandatory Certifications:
- Active AHA BLS
- Active AHA ACLS
- Active NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- Compliance Mandates: Mandatory adherence to Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) standards and stroke core measures.
Job Summary & Clinical Scope
A Medical Center in Elmira, NY is seeking an experienced Stroke Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN Tele / Med/Surg) for a 13-week day contract in 3B TELE MED SURG (Department 6020). Operating within a high-acuity, 34-bed combined 3B/3C Stroke Telemetry Unit, the RN will manage evidence-based, protocol-driven care for acute ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke and complex continuous telemetry patient populations.
- Neuro Assessment & Stroke Care: Conduct and document frequent neurological assessments utilizing the NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); enforce stroke core measures including dysphagia screenings, specialized education, and stroke care plans.
- Continuous Telemetry & Rhythm Interpretation: Continuously monitor, analyze, and document telemetry cardiac rhythms in real time; rapidly identify and intervene on acute cardiac dysrhythmias or physiological deterioration.
- BCMA Medication Administration: Administer acute pharmacotherapy, continuous IV infusions, and anticoagulation therapies utilizing strict Barcode Medication Administration (BCMA) workflows.
- Patient Safety & High-Turnover Flow: Manage admissions, discharges, and rapid bed turnover while maintaining a relentless focus on fall prevention, skin breakdown integrity, and interdisciplinary care coordination.
