Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend rotation with holidays as needed
• Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless an exception is requested by the employee
• Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift for patient care
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• Self-scheduling unit
• 2 years of acute care experience required within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Experience starting IVs required
• Active RN license required
• BLS certification required - AHA only
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Must pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start
• Telemetry exam passing criteria: 80% or higher, 100% identification of lethal rhythms, and no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions
• Traveler will have two attempts to pass the telemetry exam; a third attempt requires submission of a cardiac interpretation review course certificate
• Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
• Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections patients; staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer while assisting these patients
• Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draws, feeding tube care and management, heparin and insulin administration, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, PCA, PICC line management, telemetry monitoring, wound care/wound vac, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, and previous law enforcement patient care
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
• Unit daily census of 20 with 25 rooms available
• Parking permit required if parking on-site; other transportation options available including bus, park and ride, and private parking
