Opportunity:
RN - Med Surg/Tele
Job Details:
• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts with hours of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless an exception is made at the employee's request
• Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift if the day shift is for patient care
• Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• 2 years of acute care experience in specialty required within the last 3 years
• Experience starting IVs required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Must pass Telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher - two attempts allowed
• Adult Telemetry Exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole, with no incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
• Pediatric Telemetry Exam requires identification of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), RN license
• Skills required include: accessing/managing ports, central line blood draw, feeding tube care and management, heparin, insulin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, isolation precautions/PPE, Med/Surg, MS/Tele, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, PCA, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, telemetry, telemetry on-unit monitoring, wound care/wound vac, and previous law enforcement patient care
• Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
• Unit may house 0-10 Department of Corrections patients from various DOC facilities in Wisconsin
• DOC patients are housed in a locked wing with double doors and staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer while assisting these patients
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
• Unit daily census of 20 with 25 rooms available
• Parking permit required if parking onsite; other transportation options available including bus, park and ride, and private parking
