Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• Day/Night rotating 12-hour shifts with hours of 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Day/Night rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than 2 times in a 6-week scheduling period unless an exception is made at the employee's request
• Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift if the day shift is for patient care
• Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Travelers are required to float as needed
• Care for adult med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service, including a geriatric population
• Unit may have 0-10 Department of Corrections patients at any given time, housed in a locked wing with double doors
• Staff are always accompanied by a DOC officer while assisting Department of Corrections patients
• Daily census of 20 patients with 25 rooms on the unit
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary
• 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty required
• Experience starting IVs required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher; two attempts allowed
• Adult telemetry exam requires 100% identification of lethal rhythms including ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, and asystole, with no incorrect answers on questions regarding 3rd degree heart blocks
• Pediatric telemetry exam requires identification of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA only), RN license
• Key skills include accessing/managing ports, central line blood draw, feeding tube care, heparin, insulin, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, PICC line management, wound care/wound vac, and previous law enforcement patient care
