Description:
This is a mixed acuity unit.
The unit accepts MS, MS/Tele, and some Tele patients.
Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, Sepsis, Cellulitis, Pneumonia, SBO, atrial fibrillation, NSTEMI, CVA/TIA, total joint replacement, AMS, AKI, and other medical-surgical and telemetry diagnoses.
Previous charge experience is a plus.
Patient ratios for nights are typically 5-6 patients per nurse.
Weekend coverage is required with a total of 8 weekend shifts per contract.
Daily census is approximately 28.
Patient age groups include adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
The unit is equipped with telemetry capabilities throughout.
Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy.
Special procedures include recovery from cardiac catheterization and management of hemodialysis patients.
Special equipment may include ultrasound for guided IV insertions.
Travelers must meet compliance standards and are required to complete OSHA Respirator Clearance prior to start.
Modules will need to be completed prior to starting.
All clinicians cannot work past one year as a traveler without taking a six-month break.
