Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred License: Active NY license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Competency in phlebotomy and IV placement Interpretation of dysrhythmias Management of dysrhythmias Use of Rapid Response Teams Peripheral Line Care/Management Nasal Cannula and Oxygen administration Non-invasive airway management Isolation Precautions Description: Registered Nurses will provide care to patients with various diagnoses. Common patient conditions include acute kidney injury, sepsis, COVID-19, and alcohol withdrawal. The unit has a patient ratio of 6-7 to 1 during night shifts. Travelers are expected to float to meet the facility's needs. There are Patient Care Technicians available to assist with vital signs and other tasks. Experience with the Epic charting system is preferred. Daily responsibilities will include administering medications, conducting assessments, and performing interventions. RNs should be proficient in the use of special equipment such as SCD pumps, Bear Hugger, wound vac, and tube feeding pumps. Interpretation of dysrhythmias and activation of Rapid Response Teams are essential skills. A collaborative approach with interdisciplinary support teams is encouraged. Floating between like units is expected, and RNs will not practice outside their scope. The work environment is fast-paced and requires effective communication skills. Attention to infection control practices is crucial. RNs must stay updated with hospital protocols and procedures. Availability for weekend shifts is required every other week. This position supports the delivery of quality patient care in a challenging and rewarding environment.
