Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights or Nights only, rotating based on department needs). Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing priorities. Weekend coverage required, variable based on unit needs. 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Highlights:

  • 36-bed medical-surgical oncology unit serving adult and geriatric patients with diverse cancer diagnoses including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers, plus sickle cell crises
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required – excellent opportunity for experienced Med-Surg RNs to expand into specialty care
  • Focus on continuous cardiac monitoring related to chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and comorbidity management
  • Epic EMR system with 72 hours of orientation provided
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and social services
  • Float requirements limited to equivalent or lower acuity units within medical-surgical oncology

Requirements:

  • Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience in medical-surgical setting, current and active within the last 12 months
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
  • Nursing education from ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required: one from manager/director or formal leadership; charge RN acceptable for second reference

Essential Clinical Skills:

  • Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Accessing and managing ports, PICC lines, and central lines
  • Blood product administration and chemotherapy administration
  • IV starts and maintenance
  • Arterial line management and ABG interpretation
  • Chest tube insertion/removal assistance
  • High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP management
  • PCA pump management and insulin drip titration
  • Tracheostomy care and management
  • Proficiency with telemetry monitoring (on-unit), GE telemetry systems, Alaris pumps, and bladder scanners
