Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Tele Oncology – Columbus, Ohio
Join a 16-week Ohio travel nursing assignment as a Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse caring for adult and geriatric oncology patients in Columbus. Bring your acute care expertise to a dynamic medical oncology and benign hematology unit while collaborating with a strong interdisciplinary healthcare team. Oncology experience is preferred but not required for qualified Med/Surg Tele nurses.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040 per week
- Assignment Length: 16 weeks
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Healthcare Setting: Medical oncology and benign hematology unit
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Unit Size: 36 beds with an average daily census of 36 patients
- Patient Ratios: Goal of 1:4, with assignments occasionally reaching 1:5
- Scheduling: Weekend coverage varies according to unit needs; floating to other Med/Surg oncology units is required
- Documentation: Epic computerized charting
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of current acute care Registered Nurse experience in Med/Surg, telemetry, or a closely related specialty
- Recent, consistent Med/Surg Tele or oncology nursing experience within the past 12 months
- Valid Ohio or compact Registered Nurse license in hand at the time of submission
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting
- Proficiency with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Oncology nursing experience is preferred but not required
- ONS chemotherapy certification is preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with solid tumor cancers and complex medical-surgical conditions
- Care for patients across the cancer journey, including new diagnosis, active treatment, symptom management, and end-of-life support
- Perform ongoing nursing assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses to treatment
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize dysrhythmias, and escalate changes in patient condition appropriately
- Administer medications, chemotherapy, blood products, and other therapies according to current competency and unit protocols
- Access and manage implanted ports, perform central-line blood draws, and start and maintain peripheral IVs
- Apply infection-prevention and isolation precautions, with particular attention to the needs of immunocompromised patients
- Support fall-prevention initiatives and maintain a safe patient care environment
- Provide tracheostomy care and manage specialized equipment, including telemetry monitors, infusion pumps, bladder scanners, and specialty beds
- Float to other Med/Surg oncology units as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
- Collaborate with pharmacy, respiratory services, physical therapy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, interpretation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
