Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Job in Columbus, Ohio
Join an acute-care team as a Med/Surg Tele Travel Registered Nurse in Columbus, Ohio. Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940–$2,040
- Location: Columbus, Ohio
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract

- Duration: 16 weeks
- Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, generally 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Patient Care Environment: Approximately 36-bed medical-surgical oncology and telemetry unit
- Floating: May be required to float to other Med/Surg Oncology units with equivalent or lower acuity
Med/Surg Tele RN Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of current acute-care Med/Surg Tele Registered Nurse experience; oncology experience is preferred but not required
- Recent and consistent experience in the specialty within the past 12 months
- Active Ohio RN license or valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
- Epic electronic health record experience required
- Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation
- Demonstrated competency with central lines, PICC lines, ports, arterial lines, IV starts, blood product administration, and chest tube management
- Experience managing high-flow nasal cannula, interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs), and caring for complex medical-surgical patients
- Ability to complete required credentialing and state fingerprinting processes by established deadlines
- Flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be considered
Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients receiving diagnostic services, chemotherapy-related care, symptom management, and treatment for complex comorbidities
- Monitor patients receiving chemotherapy and identify changes in cardiac rhythm, clinical condition, or treatment response
- Perform ongoing patient assessments, administer medications and blood products, and evaluate patient outcomes
- Access and manage ports, central lines, and PICC lines while maintaining strict infection-prevention standards
- Initiate and maintain IV therapy, manage arterial lines, and assist with chest tube insertion or removal
- Provide respiratory support and monitoring, including high-flow nasal cannula management and ABG interpretation
- Promote patient safety through fall prevention, infection control, and timely escalation of clinical concerns
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, respiratory services, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Float to comparable units when needed and maintain flexibility throughout the travel nursing assignment
- Accurately document nursing care and clinical outcomes in Epic
