Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in acute care rehabilitation. The role involves providing specialized care for patients with rehabilitation needs, including those recovering from cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), anoxic brain injuries (ABI), spinal cord injuries, neurological diagnoses, and generalized debility.

Shift Details

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every third weekend and holidays as needed
• Floating required between multiple locations in the region, as needed

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Assess and interpret laboratory results
• Conduct medication reconciliation and maintain patient health questionnaires, including history and allergies
• Monitor vital signs: blood pressure, respirations, temperature, and pulse
• Perform dressing changes and set up aseptic/sterile procedure trays
• Collect capillary specimens, label specimens, and perform throat and urine clean catch procedures
• Conduct phlebotomy as required
• Perform telephone triage and assist with pharmacy calls/patient refill requests

Experience Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of experience is required
• Previous experience in acute care rehabilitation is preferred
• Knowledge of the following patient populations is ideal: CVA, TBI, ABI, spinal cord injuries, and general rehabilitation

Patient Ratios

The standard patient care ratio is 1:6; however, there may be instances where a nurse will care for 7 patients with similar acuity on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification is required
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system is preferred
• Proficiency in performing essential nursing procedures and patient assessments
