Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: NY State License required in hand to submit Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Previous charge experience preferred Patient ratio experience of 6 preferred. Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in medical/surgical telemetry. The unit has 37 beds and staffing ratios are 1:9 on all shifts. The nurse may be required to float to other medical/surgical units. Weekend coverage is expected every other weekend or a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per month. Patients are primarily elderly and present with respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and neurological issues. There is potential for overflow of orthopedic patients. The care delivery model incorporates teams of one RN, one LPN, and one PCT for up to 9 patients. "Modified teams" are utilized when full teams are unavailable. Experience with electronic charting systems, preferably Epic, is required. Familiarity with accessing and managing ports, cardiac telemetry, central line care, and various patient care protocols is essential. The unit offers interdisciplinary support from various services, including IV teams, respiratory, and social services. Basic duties include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing direct patient care. A strong understanding of patient safety protocols and infection control measures is necessary.
