Travel Nurse Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the working state or a valid compact-state license
• At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
• Acute-care hospital experience preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved provider before providing direct patient care
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred at hire
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN), Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to safely care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, oxygen therapy up to 6 L via nasal cannula, and intermittent BiPAP
• Ability to work night shifts, every other weekend, and every other holiday
• Ability to meet the physical demands of bedside nursing, including patient mobility assistance, lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking

Med/Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing nursing assessments, interpret findings, and develop individualized plans of care
• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for adult and geriatric medical-surgical, orthopedic, bariatric, and general surgical patients
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards, facility policies, and scope of practice
• Monitor patients using remote telemetry, recognize changes in cardiac rhythm or clinical condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Care for patients with IVs, ports, PICC lines, heparin infusions, chest tubes, and advanced respiratory needs as applicable
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment, revise plans of care, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Coordinate patient care with patients, families, providers, nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses, and other support services
• Promote patient safety, privacy, infection prevention, cultural sensitivity, and quality improvement
• Provide patient and family education related to diagnoses, treatments, medications, recovery, and discharge planning
• Remain calm and adaptable in high-stress situations while advocating for patient needs and preferences
