Travel Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity in Charlottesville, Virginia for an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry nurse seeking a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical role. Job Details

• Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry
• Employment Type: Travel RN / Travel Nursing Job
• Setting: 17-bed inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours, with the option to offer 48 hours
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
• Orientation: 40 hours
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse license; pending Virginia RN license accepted with timely completion before start
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Experience caring for patients with a 1:4 patient ratio preferred
• Ability to work every other weekend and designated winter holidays
• Willingness to float within scope of practice as needed
• Strong assessment, communication, and teamwork skills
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• BSN preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Care for patients with a broad range of diagnoses, including diabetes, COPD exacerbations, sickle cell crisis, ESRD, wounds, drains, and telemetry monitoring needs
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and therapies according to the plan of care
• Manage IVs, central line care, blood product administration, and other common Med/Surg Telemetry interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social work, physical therapy, and rapid response services
• Document accurately in Epic and support safe, efficient patient throughput
• Float as needed within scope while maintaining high standards of patient care
• Contribute to a culture of respect, teamwork, quality improvement, and patient-centered care
