Job Opportunity – Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse – North Carolina
Start Date: October 26, 2026
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 or 48 hours per week. Weekend requirement of 12-16 shifts per contract. Floating required within facility. Contract lengths of 13-26 weeks available.
Highlights:
- Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on a 41-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Diverse patient population including medical/surgical diagnoses, COVID patients, diabetes, COPD, sepsis, GI bleed, and post-surgical care
- Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management and comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
- 24-hour orientation with hospital-wide onboarding during first week
- Comprehensive skill set including telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care, central line management, and non-invasive airway management
- First-time travelers accepted; local candidates considered with applicable rate adjustments
Requirements:
- Active North Carolina RN license or Compact multi-state license
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in Med/Surg and Telemetry skills including remote monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insulin protocols, colostomy care, feeding tube management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, PCA pumps, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, wound care, and isolation precautions
- Preferred: Epic experience, charge experience, telemetry on-unit monitoring, port access, CVA care, surgical drain management, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Willingness to be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters
- Pre-approved time off limited to maximum 7 days; must work 2 of 3 major holidays
